Almost everyone does, usually in the second week. A missed day costs less than it feels like. Skip day 10 entirely and its 1,667 words, spread over the twenty days after it, add about 83 to each. The number above already does that spreading for you.

Is 50,000 words a novel?

It is a short one. Most published adult novels run 70,000 to 100,000 words, so a November draft is often the first two thirds of a book, or a complete draft that grows in revision. Set your own target above if you want the month to finish the whole thing.
