The basic terms for using Tabularia.

Terms of Service ยท Last updated October 16, 2026

1. About Tabularia

Tabularia is operated by Mackley Studios ("we," "us," or "our"). By using the website, app, or related services, you agree to these terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13. If you are under the age of legal majority, a parent or guardian must agree for you. If you act for an organization, you must have authority to accept these terms on its behalf.

3. Accounts

Provide accurate account information and protect your credentials, devices, and browser profiles. You are responsible for activity under your account. Report unauthorized access promptly.

4. Your Content

You retain your rights in the writing and other material you create, store, or import ("Your Content"). You grant us only the rights needed to operate and improve the service, including support, sync, and backups.

You are responsible for Your Content and must have permission to use or share it. Importing does not transfer copyright. Tabularia does not bypass passwords, encryption, or copy protection. Remove protection only when authorized.

5. Publishing To The Web

Publishing makes a Draft available at a public address. The source Manuscript stays private, and you keep ownership.

A person reviews every report. Pages that violate these terms or the law are withdrawn, with the author told why. Withdrawal does not alter the Manuscript.

Send copyright claims through the report page. Identify the copied work and its published address, and confirm that you own the rights or represent the owner.

6. Local Storage, Sync, And Backups

Writing and settings are saved in your browser. Clearing site data, changing profiles, or ending private browsing can remove local work. Cloud backup, sync, sharing, and publishing require the Cloud plan.

Keep independent exports. Cloud backups do not replace them. An optional local backup folder is written once daily on a best-effort basis and keeps only the latest copy of each Project.

7. Plans, Billing, And Subscriptions

The Local plan is a one-time $199 license, plus applicable tax, with one year of support and feature updates. It remains valid without renewal for your last eligible installed release. Security and data-integrity fixes continue.

Optional support and update renewal is $49/year, off unless you enroll. Enrolling at purchase charges only the license price today; the first $49 renewal follows the included year. Pause or resume renewal from Account without losing your license or paid updates period.

The Cloud subscription includes Local functionality while active, not a permanent Local license. A separately purchased license survives Cloud cancellation. Starting Cloud pauses separate Local renewal, which does not restart automatically. Pausing Cloud stops billing and Cloud features; without a Local license, Studio then offers DOCX and Markdown downloads of your writing until you resume.

The 14-day evaluation starts at first online Studio entry, requires no card, and never converts automatically. Final PDF and EPUB exports require a paid plan. After expiry, editing stops and saved writing remains recoverable as DOCX or Markdown.

Existing early-access Free accounts keep their current access. Feature updates continue through December 31, 2026; after that, they keep their last eligible installed release. Team plans may have separate written terms.

Stripe processes payments. Subscriptions renew automatically until stopped, including applicable taxes. Prices appear on the Pricing page and at checkout. We give reasonable advance notice of subscription price increases, which apply at a later renewal. You may cancel beforehand. Feature changes apply prospectively unless law or a separate offer says otherwise.

8. Cancellations And Refunds

Local license purchases include a 30-day money-back guarantee. Request a refund within 30 days at support@mackleystudios.com. A full refund revokes that license. A partial refund does not.

Other payments are non-refundable unless law or a separate policy says otherwise. Cancel subscriptions through Account or the billing portal. Access continues through the paid period. Cancellation does not delete your account, guarantee indefinite storage, or create a refund. Account closure stops associated billing.

9. Acceptable Use

Do not use Tabularia to:

  • break laws or infringe others' rights
  • access accounts or systems without permission
  • disrupt the service or upload malware
  • scrape, reverse engineer, or bypass limits except where law allows
  • harass others or create, store, or share unlawful, exploitative, or abusive material

10. Suggestions, Proofing, And Automation

Proofing, review, and automation can be wrong. You must review their output and remain responsible for its accuracy, lawfulness, and suitability for publication.

11. Service Availability

We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service. We aim for reliability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access or unchanged features.

12. Tabularia Intellectual Property

Mackley Studios or its licensors own the software, design, branding, and service content. Your license is limited, non-exclusive, and non-transferable. You may not copy, modify, redistribute, or create derivative software, or offer it as another service.

13. Privacy And Third-Party Services

The Privacy Policy explains our data practices and service providers. Stripe and optional Google sign-in also operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

14. Disclaimer Of Warranties

Tabularia is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

15. Limitation Of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tabularia will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of Your Content or other data, or business interruption.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tabularia's total liability for all claims related to the service will not exceed the greater of 100 U.S. dollars or the amount you paid Tabularia during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. This liability cap does not apply where applicable law prohibits Tabularia from limiting its liability.

16. Disputes With Others

You are responsible for disputes involving Your Content or other people. We need not mediate or participate, but may comply with legal process or exercise our rights under these terms.

17. Responsibility For Claims

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Tabularia harmless from third-party claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and reasonable expenses, including legal fees, arising from Your Content, your violation of another person's rights, your unlawful misuse of Tabularia, or your material violation of these terms. Tabularia may assume control of the defense with counsel of its choice. You agree to provide reasonable cooperation and may not settle a covered claim in a way that admits fault by or imposes obligations on Tabularia without Tabularia's written consent.

18. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations, security risks, abuse, or legal or operational reasons.

Pausing a subscription leaves the account open and cloud content intact. Permanent deletion requires separate confirmation and removes the account, cloud content, and data in the current browser. Other offline browser copies may remain. Export important work first.

We may remove inactive accounts under a published schedule, with advance notice and an export opportunity when reasonably feasible. Legal, accounting, security, and dispute records may be retained where permitted or required.

Terms that must survive closure remain effective, including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, claims, and disputes.

19. Changes To These Terms

We may revise these terms and their "Last updated" date. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.

20. Governing Law And Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Except where applicable law requires otherwise, any court proceeding arising from these terms or the service must be brought exclusively in a state or federal court located in Utah. You and Tabularia consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

21. General Terms

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Tabularia concerning the service and replace earlier agreements about the same subject. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms without our written consent. Mackley Studios may transfer these terms as part of a merger, acquisition, corporate reorganization, or sale of Tabularia or related assets.
